Write down what is important to you and ensure you pursue these goals even if it means saying no to others requests.

Do three tips from step ten in Monady’s series post each night this week, to aid your sleeping.

Plan your vacation / staycation dates for the next year so that you go no longer than three months without a break from work.

Finding Balance In Action: Schedule in creativity

Ok so I know there’s A LOT of exercises this week, so feel free to schedule this one in for any time in the next two weeks. I would say that this is one of the most important exercises as it cultivates true self expression and can be so immensely rewarding, genuinely renewing your spirit.

 

Schedule in a creative activity from Monday’s list (or think of anything creative for that matter) to do for one evening this week – even if only for an hour. TIP: Your favorite childhood creative pastimes are often extremely fun to revisit!

Did you know it’s actually super productive to schedule in play? It has been found to have a whole bunch of benefits including greater light-heartedness, empathy, flexibility, adaptiveness, optimism, hope for the future and produces a sense of belonging. Play even promotes our being open to new ideas and increases our creativity.

 

Take a close look at the playful activities as listed in Monday’s series post or think up your own and do one playful activity this week.

Finding Balance In Action: Eat more fruit and vegetables

Use this week to improve your diet and see if you feel an improvement in your vitality. Do you feel less sluggish? More alert?

 

I have to admit I find this one hard too but at the times when I have eaten more healthily I have noticed my complexion improve and my alertness increase, making eating carrots well worth the effort!

Finding Balance In Action: Exercise twice a week this week

When I exercise I naturally have more energy and motivation. Indeed it was when I was exercising regularly that I started this blog. I have to admit, I lapsed in my exercise regime for some time, so I will be doing this exercise right with you! Try to commit to exercising twice a week this week – it could be for just a thirty minute walk – and see if you feel better as a result. Do you have more energy and mental stamina for example?

 

This could be as simple as taking a half an hour walk or doing a twenty minute exercise DVD.

Finding Balance In Action: Detox from work emails

When I started my current job I ensured that I didn’t sync my phone with my work emails. This strategy has been invaluable throughout my working life. For this week I challenge you to ditch your connectivity to work outside of working hours and see the impact it has on your personal life.

 

The quality of your relationships will be improved because you are more relaxed and present. Your rest will be better quality and you will be able to switch off from the working day easier, thereby improving your stress levels. Mostly, you will feel liberated and fully engaged with your life outside work.

The feeling of liberation this brings is immense because you and only you get to decide the type of person you want to be, so in essence your self-esteem is completely within your control.
