If Disney is anything to go by once you’ve found your soul mate you walk into the sunset and live happily ever after. Sadly, this version of soul mates really is the stuff of fiction. Whilst finding your soul mate is beyond wonderful real life tough times still happen and inevitably conflict will occur. The fundamental difference is that when you are with your soul mate and these tough times hit, you both have an unshakable resolve to work through any difficulty – you both are committed to making things work, no matter what.
Many therapists say that there are three stages to any relationship. The honeymoon period, conflict and intimacy. Whilst many relationships will falter during the conflict stage – true soul mates will persevere until they reach the intimacy stage – reached when both partners have actively worked through their most serious conflict successfully.
What makes your soul mate worth it? Their unique understanding of your most inner self, the deep and strong bond you share, their commitment to you and the relationship and the powerful, unwavering love they have for you.
Do you believe in the notion of soul mates? Have you met your soul mate? If not, do you believe you will? Please share your thoughts in the comments below to gain encouragement, support and insight from our community, we’d love to hear from you.
