Frequently asked questions
-
This call is a chance for us both to see if we are a good fit. I will ask what you’re looking for and you will have plenty of time to ask questions about me. This quick phone call is required because I want to make sure I am the best person to match your needs (without you having to pay for a session first!)

Therapy can be different for each person! You can expect me to be a warm, dependable, and empathetic person. I have unconditional positive regard for you - I know that you are doing the best you can with the situation you are in.
I believe you are the expert on your own life and challenges. I hope to sit with you in those challenges. I often let you to lead the conversation to make sense of your experiences, especially at the beginning when I am getting to know you and your life.
If we decide that a structured approach best meets your needs, I provide an agenda, topics, education, skills, and re-direction as needed.
My practice is to be authentically myself and keep therapy as flexible as possible to meet your needs.

In our first intake session, I will focus on setting up a good foundation for our work together. I will discuss confidentiality, privacy, and your rights as a client. I will discuss my policies and practices. There will be time to ask any questions you have.
Once we review that info, I want to get to know you! I will ask how you have been since our phone call and how you are feeling coming into session. I will ask about what is bothering you and what you wish was different in your life. Together, we will create a plan of meeting those goals and needs.

Yes! As someone who has received gender-affirming care and gone through the process of getting my own letters, I enjoy getting to provide this to others. I tailor this experience to your needs - whether that’s a one time meeting or a supportive/exploratory process!
